Eleventy Plus Vite

The template integrates Eleventy v3 with Vite v5 (Vite as middleware and post-processor), a Sass/PostCSS CSS pipeline with Autoprefixer and cssnano, critical CSS inlining, an example webfont FOFT preload strategy, RSS feed and XML sitemap generation, and Eleventy’s dev server with live reload.

The project produces a static, Vite-optimized build suitable for static hosts. It includes a Netlify deploy button and can be deployed to Netlify or any static-file host that serves the generated output.

The starter uses an opinionated Sass structure by default with PostCSS processing (Autoprefixer, cssnano). It also supports plain CSS; PostCSS plugins (including nesting) can be used as an alternative to Sass.

The template includes critical CSS generation and inlining, async loading of the main stylesheet, a documented webfont loading strategy (critical FOFT with preload), basic dark-mode support, and configuration choices aimed at high Lighthouse scores.
